Swift Taxis take the stress of getting to the airport swiftly off your hands with professional, flexible and punctual airport transfers to your desired destination, including Bristol Airport and Exeter Airport.
However, if you’re flying for the first time you’ll probably be wondering what to expect once you get there. Whatever the purpose of your journey, there are a series of very simple steps to follow from arriving at the airport to taking your seat on the plane.
Although we will get you to the airport in plenty of time so that you don’t need to panic or rush these steps, it is always best to be aware of the process in advance.
To check-in for your flight, you will need your booking reference number and usually a form of identification that can include your passport, a driving licence or birth certificate. You will be able to check in 24 hours before your flight.
You can either:
You will then be given a boarding pass, either in person if you check in at the airport, or as a downloadable/printable copy if you check in online. In this case, you will need your boarding pass at the airport, so make sure it is on your person before you leave for your flight.
If you’re travelling with checked-in luggage, you’ll need to pass it over during the check-in stage so it can be put in the luggage hold. Your bag will be tagged with an identification tag and then taken off your hands to be loaded onto the plane in advance of your flight.
Make sure you check any weight/size restrictions before your airport transfer arrives to avoid any confusion on the day of your flight.
Once you’ve checked yourself and your luggage in, you’ll need to pass through airport security.
Your hand luggage will be passed through an x-ray machine to check for dangerous goods. Any items on your person like keys, phones and belts will also be required to pass through this machine. While this is happening, you will also need to pass through a metal detector.
If the machine beeps, you don’t need to worry. A member of security will simply check that you are not carrying any harmful objects or liquids on you. If you have followed airport advice on restricted items, this shouldn’t be necessary.
Your boarding gate will usually be listed on your boarding pass, and is where your flight will depart from. Boarding for flights usually closes 15-20 minutes prior to take off, and you won’t be able to board once this has passed, so it’s important to arrive at your boarding gate as soon as possible.
If you’ve arrived at the airport bright and early and have time to spare in between security and boarding your flight, you will be able to grab a bite to eat at a restaurant, or browse cafes and other shops in your airport’s departure lounge.
Just make sure you know how to get to your boarding gate first.
Before you board your flight, make sure you have the following items ready:
The airport staff will check that you are on the right flight, and you will then be guided onto the plane and to your seat by an air steward. From this point, simply sit back, relax and enjoy your flight.
At Swift Taxis, our drivers ensure that you arrive at the airport on the dot and with minimal hassle so that you can pass through security in your own time. We will pick you up and take you to your airport of choice, and can track your flight in order to pick you up when you arrive back home.
